The Port of Galveston Terminal 3 is a 2-story cruise terminal covering approximately 162,500 SF. The terminal’s structural system incorporates steel framing, composite decking, and insulated tilt-up exterior panels. Developed to accommodate Royal Caribbean’s largest cruise ships, this $125 million project has features such as facial recognition and mobile check-in. Complementing the terminal is a new 1,550-space parking facility, upgraded utilities, and pier improvements to support increased capacity. Distinguished for its sustainability, the facility is the first cruise terminal to generate 100% of its energy through on-site solar panels, earning its place as the world’s first LEED Zero Energy facility and the first LEED Gold-certified terminal in the region.
Luggage drop-off zones on either side of the terminal building ensure organized passenger flow with an area for baggage handling. A VIP lounge, security and administrative offices, restrooms, and a disembarkation lobby add to the facility’s functionality. The embarkation hall is spacious, offering abundant seating for waiting passengers. At the center of the terminal is a grand atrium, adorned with a signature Royal Caribbean logo and complemented by two large video boards.
