The renovation to the Miami Cancer Institute helped facilitate a proper space for the state-of-the-art MRIdian Linac, which is located within a shielded, modular, lead block enclosure at the ground floor of the Miami Cancer Institute. As per estimates by the American Society for Radiation Oncology, nearly two-thirds of all treated cancer patients in the United States will receive some form of radiation therapy during the course of their cancer treatment. The MRIdian Linac is one of only twelve machines located in the United States, and the only MRI-guided radiation therapy system to receive FDA clearance.
