The City of Hallandale’s new electric bus facility is designed to accommodate a growing fleet of eco-friendly buses with the infrastructure for charging and maintenance. The administration building, constructed from a blend of shipping containers and prefabricated metal structures, incorporates solar panels on its roof, supported by a specially engineered framing system with cantilever projections. The structure is elevated on a three-foot platform using a stem wall system to keep the ground slab above the flood level. The facility is comprised of a lobby, management offices, a break room, machine shop, and storage areas. The site includes four canopies: two canopies cover the 12 electric bus charging stations, one shelters the inspection area, and another over a bus wash station. Each canopy is constructed on elevated platforms with stem walls, safeguarding the facility from potential flood damage.
