The first public school in the city, Sunny Isles Beach Community School houses over 1,600 students in grades K-8. The campus includes two four-story classroom buildings, a two-story administration building, a four-story parking garage and a cafetorium and media center.
The tight site of just over 2 acres required a compact design and close coordination with the construction team to accommodate proper staging. Primarily due to mason shortages and a limited construction time, the team decided on tilt-wall construction. The tallest panel measures approximately 54’ in height.
In addition to tilt-up wall panels, the primary structural frame utilizes composite precast concrete floors, bar joist roof, precast double tee garage, and two-way cast-in-place concrete slabs.
